  I'm a social worker, but before I finished college..me and my now husband got pregnant with our first child. I still lived at home with my parents...but medicaid covered me completely for pregnancy. What she needs to do is..once she goes to her first appointment, or if she has already been, she needs to get a proof of pregnacy form from her doctors office...usually its just a piece of paper that a nurse or receptionist gives you that lists your estimated due date..which is proof of pregnancy. Then she will need to take it to the Health and Human Resources department and tell them you need to be enrolled for pregnancy medicaid (they will ask for proof, or atleast they did me, for records). Once you get enrolled you should receive your card without a couple of weeks (there shouldn't be any problem being accepted)...if any test, blood work, ultrasounds, etc. have to be done before you receive your card...don't worry, medicaid is good about backing up and paying for those things).   Ovaries switch off when they ovulate. So every other month, an egg is being released into your open tube. When you ovulated from the open tube side, you are within the normal percentage range to get pregnant which is 20-25% chance of conceiving that month. You can get pregnant, it just may take longer.
  If you know which side is blocked, having a sonogram around cycle day 8, 9, or 10 of the ovaries will tell you if the egg is going to ovulated on the good side or not.

  Hi Laura,

  We have the same anatomical "problem". My left tube is also blocked and, when I heard the news, my spirits fell to the pavement. Then I got pregnant as a result of my *first* IUI. So it can definitely happen. While it's a little clinical to get pregnant from your husband's sperm being injected into you via a tube, it really wasn't too bad. Luckily, the first month of Clomid and Follistim successfully stimulated my right ovary (the good side) to release 3 eggs and I got my first ever positive test 11 days later. I'm still flying high from that feeling, all these weeks later. In fact, as hard as it is to believe, I had my 20 week appt this morning and, as always, enjoyed hearing my baby girl's healthy heartbeat. I'm halfway there! So, while it can be a little bit tougher with one bum tube, it's still *totally* doable, AND doable without too much fuss! Hang in there and your miracle will happen.

Will it be difficult to get pregnant with only one tube and ovary? My husband and I have started trying. I'm 21 and had a huge tumor removed and one of my tubes and ovary were completely mangled around the tumor.   Birds only have one functioning ovary to begin with and they don't have any problem conceiving. It may be more difficult, but you really only need one functioning ovary to produce eggs so it's not impossible. It may mean that you don't ovulate with each cycle though, as only one ovary releases an egg during a cycle. Given your history it would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about the possibility of increased risks or problems associated with pregnancy and the type of tumor you had removed.

  I also had HSG done recently and have one blocked tube and other open. I tried to TTC for 1.5 year now and no sucess. I tried to have clomid & injectables to have IUI, but IUI was cancelled, cause ovary on the unbloced side did not respond. So, most likely have to have IVF. Your situation might be different. You may still be able to get pregnant with one tube if the ovary on the open side ovulates. Most women ovulate randomly from either right or left side. But, my ovary on the blocked side is the only ovary that I keep ovulating from, my doctor cannot figure it out.You will also be at a higher risk for ectopic due to the hydrosalpinx (fluid in the tube), So you should me monitored by a RE via ultrasound to see which side your ovulating on.

  i had an ovarian cyst removed from my left tube and they took some of the tube away. i had a dye test and it was the most painful thing ever, my mum heard me screaming down the corridor, lol... i had the dye going up my right but not my left and that was what caused the pain cos of the pressure on the left tube.

  i was told that i will still be able to get preggo - i am on clomid and its weird cos i always have my follies on the right side but when i asked the lady when she was scanning me if i would ovulate down the right tube she said that the egg can make its way over to the left tube? wtf.

  EDIT - I JUST RANG THE HOSPITAL and she said that if you ovuate on the good side then the good tube will pick it up not the bad tube. i am happier now.

  CLOMID - it is mainly used for people that do not ovulate on their own - it tricks the brain in to releasing and egg and stimulates the egg and makes them mature so that you ovulate. with 50mg i had 1 mature follicle and on 100mg i had 4 mature follicles which matured into eggs. i had 1 in my bad side and 3 in my good side and i was told that there was a high risk of multiples, didnt get preg though. sometimes they give clomid to people that do ovulate but i dont think it helps them at all.

  Well it is still possible, please don't lose hope. I've read many stories of women being able to have many babies with one tube. Just keep track of your periods and do it on your fertile days. You can keep track of your periods online with mymonthlycycles.com. I would strongly recommend you invest in a ovulation prediction test to see if you ovulate that month, once you get you dark line you can have sex within 12-24 hours because that is when you will ovulate. Also try to stay healthy, taking prenatal vitamins and drinking plenty of water.   I suggest you invest in a Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor in order to make the best of the months that you will be ovulating from your unblocked side.

  I had a tube removed years ago and never became pregnant again (but I also had other fertility issues). However, I woman I used to work with had to have her only tube tied after she kept accidentally becoming pregnant with one tube.

  Try the monitor for a few months first. Then, if that does not work, speak with your doctor about doing an IUI. An IUI is very affordable and with ultrasound, they can determine if you will be ovulating from your unblocked side before the insemination.

  Four months later I got pregnant and found out I had an ectopic on the right side. They took my tube and ovary out, but left my left tube alone. I had three children with only one tube. My sister lost her tube in ovary to a ruptured cyst and she also had two children, just because one tubes is gone doesn't mean you can't get pregnant with the other one, It only takes one tube. Now for the tubal reversal, yes you can get your one tube reversed, but the chances are going to be lower because you could have another ectopic on that side(scar tissue that some times happen's when reconnecting your tube) and once an ectopic on that side means another ectopic could occur. Then you could be just fine. You could go ahead and have a good pregnancy. . This would be something you and the doctor could discuss. Go to face book and look up Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal of NC and read about the women who are trying to get their tubes reversed so they could have another chance of being a mommy. I have an adult daughter from a previous marriage. My dh and I have been together 8 years and I'm now 40.   Why don't they flush your tube? My friend had that done and both times she got pregnant the month after. I had other problems, ovulation only on one side, due to a cyst. Low progesterone, and not able to keep a pregnancy past the first trimester. After finding the solutions, I now have a 7 month old son.

  Make sure you are really confident with your doctor. I spend over a year with a women that told me I would never be able to have my own. She never knew what was really happening, she kept doing the same thing each cycle...Clomid and progesterone. Both were at the wrong time and the wrong form. I just had an ectopic pregnancy and had my baby removed along with my tube on Thursday 5/19/11. I wanted to know what are my chances of getting pregnant after this? Is it cut in half because of my lack of a tube? Is it completely the same since I have 2 healthy ovaries? What can I expect afterwards? I really want my own child and me and my boyfriend have been trying for a year, so this kind of put me in a bad depression. My Story
I knew something was wrong from the beginning I had started bleeding about 31/2 weeks into pregnancy (from last period date) and was bleeding 3 entire weeks before I could finally get my 1st ultrasound (btw for everyone who has bleeding while pregnant, not all blood is bad only if it is heavy but I would get it checked out immediately because mine started out as light brown spotting and into my 3rd week turned more reddish and the baby was still alive, but was in my tube). I had a few minor cramps not bad at all but sometimes was left breathless if I exerted myself too much. I also passed a clot about as big as my thumb, which wasn't the baby, so not all blood clots are babies (there was even some brownish tissue looking stuff but still wasn't the baby). I'm trying to tell my story so that maybe you will learn from my experience. If you suspect anything at all go to the doctors IMMEDIATELY. I told everyone I needed to go to the doctor and they told me I should wait and everything was alright. I went to my doctor and told her I was worried and they told me it was alright and I should be patient. Go to the emergency room if you have to don't just sit there cause it could be life threatening to your baby and even you! And even if it is too early to hear the heartbeat, request an ultrasound anyway because if I had maybe gotten mine even 2 weeks earlier I would still have 2 tubes... no baby but I'd still be whole. Do anything you can to ease your mind. I know medicaid takes a while to come through or other insurances, but medicaid will pay your bills 3 months prior to you being approved.

I just had laparoscopy and the doctor found that my right tube is blocked with scar tissue. The HSG test did not clean the tube out (sometimes those tests do) because the scarring is too dense.   your overies take turns releasing eggs (thought they dont exactly alternate) so as long as your overy is functioning on your good side you can still get pregnant. it may however take longer becuase you have to wait until that side is releasing, but it is still possible. Clomid should help to ensure you are ovulating, but it wont necessairly ensure the correct overy releases the egg. I would try for 6 months to a year and if you have no success then I would start considering IVF. you doctor however should have explained this all to you. perhaps consider seeing a specialist. best of luck to you.

I have endometriosis. I have been trying YEARS to have a baby. I have had 2 surgeries to remove endo & adhesion's. I have also known for years that I have a blocked tube. I was sad because I was under the impression with my last surgery that the bad tube would be removed & it wasn't. I have heard that in some people their chances increase when the block tube gets removed. Did any of you get pregnant with one tube? I am thinking about getting my bad tube removed. If anything it causes a lot of pain when I am on my period, so it would be beneficial.

  I just discovered I have endo as well. I am an herbalist but was not too sure what route to go with this one. I discovered that castor oil packs help my symptoms greatly. Everything thing has been removed (IUD and left tube) and I healed nicely. My doctor says my ovaries are very healthy and I should have no trouble, but I wanna help that little tube out as much as possible. I am 28 years old and just found out I have the early stages of Arthritis in my lower back and a herniated disc. I am working to loose weight and I have physical therapy 2x a week to strengthen my core, helping to prepare to be in great baby making shape. I have started taking Prenatal vitamins, Super B Complex, B12, B6, Folic Acid for vitamin intake. I have sworn off all water that is not bottled if possible and I have a Brita filter at home. I never liked tab water to begin with anyway. I try to eat healthy but we are on a budget right now and I can only do with what I have. My husband and I are very active sexually and I was just curious as to all the things I can do to help this tube out. He is totally on board helping me with this. We desperately want a child. Right now stress is the worse factor considering this issue is driving me insane and I have to work and manage a household of three to boot. My husband and I take care of his 17 year old brother as guardians and its a lot to get used being newlyweds.

  yes one can get pregnant with one fallopian tube. i only have one tube and ive been pregnant 3 times. 2 ended in miscarriage but im currently 30 w 1 day along. all i did was "do it" every single day and take prenatals and in one month of trying i was pregnant. in some cases it can be harder but nothing to stress over bc it is possible. anyways the egg is only in one or the other fallopian tube so every cycle its 50/50 chance.

  It hasn't happened to me, but there is a possibility, however slim it might be. It's hard to believe that with your tube tied it could happen, but something might not have gotten done perfectly and it's allowed eggs to escape. With vasectomies, it takes a while for a guy to "work it out of their systems". There is still a sperm count for a while after. I'd check with your doctor.

Can you get pregnant if one fallopian tube is blocked and the other tube is not blocked by taking clomid?
I have a 28 day menstrual cycle and I took clomid on the fifth day of my period for for five days, then I waited 5 days before I had intercourse with my husband. He definitely doesn't have a sperm count issues. Our family doctor has confirmed that.

  You can get pregnant on Clomid or even naturally with 1 functioning tube. However, you need to be monitored to make sure the ovary on that side is the one maturing follicles and releasing them. Because any eggs released on the ovary with the blocked tube will never meet up with the sperm. Ovaries should switch off each month (so left side one month and right side next month) on natural cycles. But being that you are on Clomid you may have mature follicles on both ovaries but you won't know without monitoring. It could take you a little longer to conceive for these reasons.

What did you do besides the obvious, to help you conceive? I'm drinking red raspberry leaf tea, nettle tea, dong quai tea and green tea. The Dong Quai tea I drink every other day. I also exercise and take prenatal vitamins along with additional calcium supplements. It's been 3 years since my ectopic with tube removal. I know I need to go to an obgyn but have a feeling that I will conceive real soon. I just need to see if there are women out there like myself with one tube who have been through this and conceived.   My mom got pregnant with my little sister with only one tube.

  I know green tea can help with CM, but its also full of caffeine and that can hinder your chances of conceiving...try decaffeinated green tea. I drank Traditional Medicinals Organic Pregnancy Tea, which has most of the teas you're drinking all in one, and in optimum quantities to work together. Its wonderful stuff.

  One thing that really helped me and dh conceive was using preseed lubricant. Its available online and at places like CVS. Its a fertility friendly lubricant and balances the pH in your cervix through internal application, which helps the sperm survive better and longer. I've heard of it working for lots of people.

Hiya, is my platy pregnant. I have a big community tank with lots of fish including four platies. About two weeks ago i noticed that the two female platies in the video getting larger and on the sunset Hi Fin platy i can see what i think is a gravid spot because she is a lighter translucent colour where as on the other i can't quite see one but this is because she isn't a see through colour. Today i moved them into there own 10 Litre tank in case they are pregnant so that if they do give birth to fry they won't all be eaten.

Do you think they look pregnant and if they are pregnant how long do you think i have left before i should expect Fry.

  I bought two female platties 3 weeks ago and one of them gave birth yestarday, the last contact with males was at the pet store so they have a 3 week pregnancy.

  Before my plattie gave birth it looked much fatter than yours do, yours a likely in the early stages of pregnancy, I would move them back into the main tank for at least another week where they will be more comfortable.

  When they are about to give birth they will be ridiculously fat, the stomach will be very rounded and hanfg much lower than in the video.

She has become noticeably fat, and eats a lot more than she used to.

It was about 2 days ago that I caught them, but I'm positive that it wasn't the first time.
They usually make a lot of squealing noises at night, but this time I went to look because it woke me up. Another reason I separated the two, is because she was beginning to develop a bald spot on the top part of her neck where he would hold onto her when they. . uhm. Her abdomen got quite a bit larger (as shown in the video) almost over night. I've been feeding her cheese, and peanut butter, and today I was planning on giving her egg whites, just to be safe. What do you think?

  I would say that your hamster probably is pregnant. We had hamsters before, always in seperate cages until my sister thought it would be funny to put them together. Anyways, our hamster was pregnant and looked exactly like that. Hamsters only have about a 14-20 day pregnancy cycle so you should definitely know soon.   Yes, you can see the bulges on the side of her stomach. She is most definitely pregnant. Fat doesn't bulge like that.

  From the video, I wouldn't like to guess, however the Platy that has just had babies is pregnant again if there is a male in the tank, so the odds are she most definitely is.

  Live bearing fish are at the bottom of the food chain and in order for the species to survive they are always reproducing. One batch pops out and the next lot start growing. If they have a male in the same tank they are always pregnant, it's just a matter of how near to birth she is and as you have just had a delivery, base your judgement on the female that has just given birth to the timescale involved for this one.

If you have passed your first trimester, talk to your doctor about what heart rates are appropriate as they may change for pregnancy. You might also find that as you get larger, you may have to limit or eliminate some of the kicks because you are a tad unbalanced.

  Also consider Denise Austin's Pregnancy video as an alternative and prevent boredom with the same routine.

  Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, you can do those routines up until you give birth.

Hi, sorry the video quality isn'y very good but there is deffinatly two females in there. Also over the last month they have been in with one other female and two males in the community tank so have had plenty of chances to get pregnant!!!!!

  They do look rather round! (from what i can see) Its hard to tell first time round but they can give birth on a monthly basis. I would say if they have been noticeably pregnant for about 2 weeks they will probably pop within the next week or so! Tey will seem aggitated and dart around when about to have them and settle in the corner to actually give birth.The darting around will start again until the next is being born and so on.

Its a miracle worker, highly recommend it!

  They try to say that there is a link between getting pregnant and your lifestyle, though I'm not sold completely on the idea. I honestly think it really just depends on the man and woman. Women who don't have menstruation problems and difficulties will get pregnant quicker. Women who have regular periods and are actively trying, will conceive quicker than those who don't.

  With my first daughter, I got pregnant 8 months after a miscarriage and 4 months of actively trying. This time we weren't actively trying, but I got pregnant after being off of birth control pills for 4 months.

  Edit:

  I do want to say that it is possible for women to be pregnant and miscarry in the first weeks and not even know it because they start what they think is a normal period, but is just the body getting rid of the embryo. So, the healthier your lifestyle, the less likely you will be to miscarry once you become pregnant. For example, not drinking, not doing drugs, not drinking excessive amounts of caffeine....

  Start taking folic acid now. You reduce your chances of giving birth to a baby with a neural tube defect (for example, anencephaly or spina bifida) by 50% to 70% if you start taking at least 0.4 mg of folic acid each day two to three months before you start trying to conceive.

  Try to keep sex fun when you're trying to conceive. Use rooms other than the bedroom or schedule your babymaking rendezvous for an odd time of day. The rationale? You won't be able to keep up the babymaking pace for very long if sex starts feeling like a chore.

  Here are some things you should try:

  -First, know when you are ovulation. Most women ovulate about 2 weeks after their period starts (count starting with the first day of your period). If you want to be sure, I recommend buying a ClearBlue fertility monitor. It took me one month to get pregnant using this. You can get one off of Ebay brand new for cheaper than at a drugstore, just a tip. I do recommend putting out the money to purchase it, it will tell a couple of days before you ovulate so that you start trying. You want to have sex the week leading up to ovulation (at least every other day) and the day of ovulation of course.

  -Second, I also recommend PreSeed, it is a natural lubricant that helps with sperm travel. I loved this stuff, it's great. A lot of lubricants kill most of the sperm so that your chances of conceiving are lower. You can also buy this on Ebay, or you can order it directly from their website (preseed.com).

  -Third, after you baby dance, put a pillow under your bottom and lay in bed for at least 30 minutes before getting up. I layed there all night sometimes because I wanted to maximize my chances...but some people wouldn't recommend it because of the chance of getting a UTI.

  -Just relax, eat healthy, and know that it will happen!!

  It can take your body up to a year to get regular again. When you were on the pill it was like clockwork when your period would come because you don't ovulate it's a totally different kind of cycle.
  I got off the pill a year before we knew we want to TTC. I'm glad I did, I only got my period every 6 weeks for 6 months and then for the last 6 months I never got it at all so I had to go and get a bunch of test done at my OB office. They all came back ok I just have cysts on my ovaries. So they put me on Provera to jump start a period and Clomid to make me ovulate. I now get my period every 28 days on my own. If you notice in the next couple of months you are still very irregular then go see your dr. but they will probably tell you to wait a year and then see how your body is working. make sure you keep a chart of your cycles.

Birth control simulates the natural hormones that control your cycle and simply tries to prevent ovulation and makes the lining inhospitable should ovulation occur.   I'm sorry for your loss. I haven't had one, but my mother had 3 still borns total. Her first child was my oldest sister. Perfectly healthy baby girl. The next 2 stillborns came in with in 5 years after that. Then me on the 6th year, perfectly healthy. Then she had another stillborn right after me, and then my baby sister 2 years after me, also perfectly healthy.

  So as you can see, she was pregnant a lot. She got 3 healthy baby girls in the process of all of it.

It is good to chart so you can track your cycles, see if you ovulate the same time each month, and also so you can look back on your cycle and see if you timed things right. But if this is your first cycle trying to get pregnant or if you are not ovulating at the same time each month, an ovulation prediction kit would be more helpful.

  6. See a doctor before you start trying to get pregnant.

Untreated infections, sexually transmitted diseases, or poor health can affect your chances of getting pregnant. Its good to see a doctor as well as start taking prenatal vitamins prior to trying to conceive.

Here's how in basic terms: sperm carrying Y chromosome (boys) swim fast but do not live long, where as sperm carrying X chromosome (girls) are slower but last longer - closer to ovulation the more likely it is to have a boy as they are first to reach egg, further from ovulation cervical mucus will keep the sperm alive long enough for X sperm to reach egg, where as Y sperm will die.
  Not only all that but also has life-long advantages of being used next time you wish to conceive (if you choose to again), use as birth control and use for general reproductive & vaginal health, putting your sexual health well into your own hands.

  You are only fertile for 30% of your cycle, you will normally only produce one egg per cycle that lives for up to 48 hours, sperm will only live up to 5 days within fertile quality cervical mucus (only a few hours without cervical mucus as acidic environment in the vagina will kill sperm - mucus also needed to help sperm reach the egg).
  So if you have sex at the wrong time of your cycle it is not going to achieve anything, apart from perhaps get you and your partner very frustrated and confused.

  I would highly recommend getting a book called 'Taking Charge Of Your Fertility' by Toni Weschler, it will set you back around £12 from Amazon or can be picked up at most book stores, and it very much worth what you pay for it.

  A lot of areas also have Fertility Awareness Method instructors that would be able to help you learn if need be, these are normally within the NHS and most do not charge, but may ask for a donation from yourself. I'm wondering if anyone has gotten pregnant quickly after a blighted Ovum? I was 5 1/2 weeks along when i lost it. I passed it naturally. My doctor told me i could start trying again as soon as i felt up to it. I'm wondering if anyone has gotten pregnant right after a blighted ovum and had a healthy pregnancy.

  none of that stuff really matters. It's all about timing and the quality of the sperm/egg. It can take a year for even normal healthy couples to conceive. All you can do is have sex every other day until ovulation and that's about it. My first took 10 months of trying like crazy and my second took one time. It's all about chance and your luck.
